MOCKED, RIDICULED AND SOUNDLY CRITICISED.......

A police force that is supposedly "with you and for you always" has been mocked and soundly criticised by a parliamentary standing committee that was not only unstinting in it's stinging criticism of the Delhi Police but also went to the extent of questioning it's integrity and so called professionalism...........
The force which has been continually criticised for it's abject failure to win the Aam Aadmi on it's side has not only been reprimanded, chastised, vilified and called the choicest of names by the above mentioned parliamentary standing committee but also questioned about the purpose of it's very existence.........
In it's 176th report that was tabled in the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) on Wednesday, the parliamentary questions had raised several red herrings about the morals, ethics, honesty and integrity of senior officials within the ranks and file of the Delhi Police and exhorted them to look within themselves and find the right answers to these soul searching questions......
Headed by veteran Bharatiya Janata Party parliamentarian M.Venkaiah Naidu and ably manned by such notables like L.K. Advani, Sandeep Dikshit, Naveen Jindal and many other members of parliament belonging to both houses, the committee has come to the unsavoury conclusion that Delhiites suffer from a rare disease called "police phobia"........
Taking the Delhi police to task on it's less than spotless transparency record, the committee pithily remarked that " the Delhi police has been patting itself on it's back and indulging in self laudatory praise about the unprecedented success of it's public outreach initiatives and programmes; but the fact of the matter is that these programmes have done precious little to end or overcome the above mentioned phobia".........
This committee was also of the considered or educated view that the Delhi Police "babus" need to continually brain storm and conjure up such public outreach measures and programmes that will go a long way in winning over the badly eroded confidence of Delhi's citizens.......
It did not stop at that and also suggested that the Delhi Police should seek the active help and connivance of Public Relations professionals and expeditiously utilise their expertise in designing such programmes if it is unable to do so on it's own........
Sandeep Dikshit, Naveen Jindal and a few other young members of this committee also reached out to the petrified Delhiite who clamoured for a change in attitude, greater transparency, people friendly initiatives and last but not the least a complete overhaul in the Delhi Police's hackneyed and age old manner and style of functioning........
In it's concluding paragraphs, the committee also came up with the noteworthy suggestion or recommendation of sending a select team of Delhi police officials on a study tour to several cities in the United Kingdom, United States of America, Singapore, Hong Kong and so on and so forth so that they could observe the trust and bonhomie that existed between the common man and police forces of these cities and make a somewhat belated though wholly necessary effort to ape and emulate the same.........
Better still why doesn't the home ministry send the senior officials of the Delhi Police to it's bete noire Messrs Arvind Kejriwal and company for some much needed lessons in public relations and the art of making the public eat out of your hand.........
