After waxing eloquent on ridding our glorious motherland of the scourge of corruption and ceaselessly patting themselves on the back for passing the Lokpal and Right to Information Bills/Acts, the Congress Party has gone back to doing what it knows best i.e. fielding candidates tainted by the very same scourge of corruption and cocking a snook at every true and untainted Indian.......
According to highly placed party sources, the screening committee headed by the mother/son Gandhi duo seems all set to field former railway minister who was forced to tender his resignation after being embroiled in a saga of corruption and nepotism and also field disgraced former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan's better half as the Congress candidate for the Nanded parliamentary seat.........
As is it's wont, the party has also made a half hearted attempt at upholding it's so called anti-corruption credentials by denying tickets to CWG scam accused Suresh Kalmadi and his family members as well as 1984 riots accused Jagdish Tytler and family........
The party grapevine has it that former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin who has been nothing more than a mere caricature of Gandhiji's three monkeys is being fielded from West Bengal's Barasat parliamentary constituency instead of his present Moradabad constituency in Uttar Pradesh in a some what foolhardy attempt to stop Mamata's juggernaut.........
Faced with the tragi-comic spectacle of tainted candidates running from pillar to post in an effort to acquire the much desired "ticket' to riches and prosperity; the party currently finds itself hopelessly stuck between two stools, i.e. "winnability" versus backing up it's hosannas and platitudes to weed out corruption........
Massive anger and resentment at the grass root level is being touted as the reason behind keeping Kalmadi and his family members at arm length; "the CWG scam is still fresh in the people's memory and we don't want to reduce our chances of winning a majority in the party's stronghold of Maharashtra by fielding candidates with a chequered history", a senior Congress politician candidly remarks........
While Rahul Gandhi's personal favourite Ashok Chavan has been denied a party ticket owing to his personal involvement in the Adarsh scam, his better half is all set to be the party's candidate from the Nanded parliamentary seat as she is the "bahu" of a pedigreed political family (former Maharashtra strong man Shankarrao Chavan's family) and also because the party sees immense logic/sense in putting up a Maratha candidate from the Marathwada region.........
So much for the two so called national parties and their hypocritical attempts to conquer the demon of corruption; fellow Indians the time has come for all of us to take an unequivocal stand and send out the resounding message of this far and no further to the people who have been exploiting our naivete and innocence for their personal gain for the last 67 years and more.........
Do both yourselves and the nation as a whole a huge favour by coming out and voting in overwhelming numbers for the candidates representing the Aam Aadmi Party, the only party to escape the unholy clutches of the corruption demon and more importantly, the only party that ensures that the "ultimate" power does truly vest in the hands of the Aam Aadmi with it's very own version of "SWARAJ" or decentralisation of the power structure/pyramid..........
