And the carnage continues unabated in the National Capital Region (NCR) blissfully unaware of the fact that we have just ushered in a New Year and supposedly enacted far more stringent and far reaching laws exclusively dedicated to the safety and security of the fairer sex........
In the third such incident reported from the NCR region between December 31 and now, a Delhi based girl was allegedly abducted and brutally gang raped by eight persons in the adjoining town of Faridabad (Haryana) on Wednesday........
According to eyewitnesses and innocent (?) bystanders, the victim who had come to Faridabad to see off a long time friend was waiting for a bus back to Delhi at the Ballabgarh bus stand when she was approached by five youths in a SUV who gallantly and chivalrously (?) offered her a ride back home in their stately bandwagon......
Despite numerous warnings constantly hitting the airwaves about the numerous perils associated with accepting lifts from relative strangers, the Dilli waali kudi made a beeline for the SUV and boarded it in full public glare; only to realise that her fate and the seemingly gallant gentlemen (?) had something that she did not remotely accept in store for her........
As has become the commonplace practice or accepted norm in most if not all such cases, the five youths led the trusting girl towards a deserted, dilapidated and deserted location where three of their accomplices were already waiting for them; the eight dastardly men then proceeded to take turns in repeatedly forcing themselves on the solitary girl until they had their fill of her.......
Better sense (?) somehow prevailed and the eight youths dropped the dishevelled, traumatised and tormented girl back at the very same spot from where they had first set their eyes on her instead of killing, maiming or then grievously injuring her.......
The visibly petrified and brutalised victim somehow managed to maintain her presence of mind about her and on her own wended her way to the neighbouring police chowki and duly registered a police complaint against her tormentors, abductors and assaulters..........
Swinging into action without any further ado, the Faridabad police authorities firstly got sketches of all the eight assailants drawn with the noteworthy help of the victim as well as eyewitnesses and also managed to apprehend seven out of the eight rapists in a police raid carried out in the Hasanpur area of neighbouring Palwal town late on Wednesday evening........
A massive manhunt has been launched to apprehend the eighth accused at the earliest, while the seven lotharios who are in the clutches of the Faridabad police have been remanded to police custody by a local magistrate presiding over a local court.......
Medical tests carried out on the victim have confirmed the incidence of rape beyond all reasonable doubt and she is currently recovering and recuperating from her ordeal at a Delhi government run medical facility.........
All one can say in conclusion is: accept lifts from anonymous folk or relative strangers at your own peril........
