UNWARRANTED AND UNPROVOKED ACID ATTACK........

What can one say about a society or then so called social set up that does not even spare it's widows and destitutes and makes furtive attempts to dismember and disfigure them at the drop of a hat........
A 38 year old widow who has been residing by herself after her husband passed away a little over four years ago was allegedly attacked with an acid like chemical by two miscreants in the national capital's Pitampura locality around midnight or so on Sunday night........
According to the case's investigating officer; the widow claimed to have heard a series of knocks on her front door at the appointed hour and also claimed that two miscreants flung the acid like substance on her face as soon as she opened the door and took to their heels within a matter of seconds..........
Call it providence or then anything else that catches your fancy; the acid like substance failed to have the much desired effect and only left the thoroughly shaken and deeply perturbed widow all itchy and a little bit discomforted..........
Neighbours and co-residents in Pitampura's Subhash Palace area who woke up to the sounds of the widow's screams and heart rending cries rushed to her aid and duly called up the local cops who in turn rushed her to a nearby hospital where the doctors discharged her after four hours or so after treating the itch that had affected both her face and neck.........
Neighbours and fellow residents of the area who were questioned by the police following the dastardly incident alluded to the fact the doughty and incomparable widow had a long standing dispute with her immediate neighbour about the erection of a gate/enclosure on her property and also that the gent might have some involvement or other in the failed acid attack..........
CCTV footage recovered from cameras stationed/positioned in and around the crime scene have somewhat helped the police sleuths to identify the two hoodlums; sketches of the two have since been circulated to all the police stations within the national capital region (NCR) and the Pitampura Police Higher Ups are more than optimistic about their chances of nabbing the wanted duo at the earliest.........
Like I said earlier the less said about a society that treats it's widows in this heinous and deplorable manner the better..........

One time Television heartthrob turned Hindi film industry leading man Rahul Bhatt cannot stop smiling and this is the reason why.........
Bhatt who was most recently seen on the silver screen as one of the main protagonists in Anurag Kashyap's path breaking venture "Ugly" has been signed up for one of the lead roles in Prakash Jha's eagerly awaited/anticipated blockbuster "Gangaajal 2" and that is why he has been seen with an enigmatic smile plastered across his face all the time.......
More than confirming the developments on this front; the film's producer/director Prakash Jha unabashedly states that he was completely bowled over by Rahul's intense and eye catching performance in "Ugly" and had hence decided to offer him one of the leading roles in the flick that has since gone on the floors.........
Priyanka Chopra will be essaying the role of an avenging/rampaging female cop in this one and Mr. Bhatt is widely expected to essay a prominent role opposite her while Jha himself will also be seen in a prominent and significant role in the film..........

Celebrated and venerated Nepalese mountaineer Chhurim Sherpa who holds the noteworthy and seemingly implausible record of scaling Mount Everest twice within a week's span (on May 12 and 19;2011) began her third conquest of Mount Everest with certain unusual items for company to say the very least.........
This time around Chhurim will be carrying a cricket bat and two team Australia jerseys belonging to prematurely deceased Aussie cricketer who was cut down in his prime in November 2014 by a sharply rising delivery delivered by a fellow Australian speedster.......
Chhurim on her part is more than doubly determined to scale/ascend Mount Everest for a third time with this cricketing memorabilia for company and will also place the same atop the pinnacle of the world's highest peak for a few moments........
She will then begin her descent with the same items keeping her company and subsequently hand them over to the Australian Embassy officials in Kathmandu who will then encase these items in a glass showcase and prominently display the same to all visitors who throng the embassy.........

Dhawan will be the sole representative from the Hindi film industry addressing the gathering in a Mumbai Hall later today and will be also be joined by a persona of the ilk of Kailash Satyarthi (Nobel Laurate) during the course of the very same conference.........
Varun candidly admits that his first/initial reaction was to back out of the commitment as he firstly did not consider himself worthy of the honour and also because he was of the opinion that his lack of familiarity with the subject on which he was supposed to address the gathering on would prove to be a huge dampener.........

Two so called gallant; gentlemanly; caring; debonair; despicable; deplorable and devilish men contrived to sexually exploit and ravage a 40 year old mentally challenged woman in Dehradun's Ramnagar Area late on Thursday night.........
According to the investigating officer; the two rapists have since been identified as Suraj 34 and Shivram 31; best friends and co-residents of the area's Bailgarh area and one of the assailants namely Suraj has since been arrested from an undisclosed location on Friday afternoon while the police is on the lookout for the still untraceable Shivram.........
This woman who knew no better was wandering in the area all by herself muttering to himself in a melodious monotone when the two monsters who ravaged and desecrated her chanced upon her; led her to the deserted environs of an under construction building and then proceeded to defile and devour her as they pleased.........
Some passers by and construction workers who arrived at the said location early on Friday morning found the rape survivor in a bedraggled and piteous condition and promptly informed the local police thana.......
For once; the constables from the local police thana showed their humanitarian and praiseworthy side and took the woman to a government hospital where the doctors who attended on her somehow managed to extract her tale of woe and exploitation and narrated the same to the police higher ups who swung into action and managed to nab one of the two accused............
Like I said earlier if the same are not manifestations and hallmarks of a depraved; deplorable and demonic society then what are/is??????

MURDER MOST FOUL..........

Is the merest hint or then whiff of suspicion cause enough to snuff out the life and spirit of your legally wedded wife????well these two Ludhiana (Punjab) based husbands certainly thought so.........
In the first instance of a woman being killed by her husband as he suspected her of having an extra marital affair behind his back; 23 year old Mahi alias Santosh Devi was throttled to death by her irate and infuriated husband who works as a sweeper with the city's municipal corporation at their nondescript abode in the city's Sunder Nagar area late on Tuesday night.........
According to the case's investigating officer: Mahi was a little more than two months pregnant and found dead in her dwelling by disbelieving neighbours who immediately alerted the area police which immediately swung into action; set Mahi's mortal remains for the legally mandated post mortem and also arrested her accused husband one Sandeep Kumar from a shady spot on the very same (Wednesday) evening..........
Sandeep Kumar who is a well known crack addict; broke down under the relentless pressure exerted by him by the police sleuths during the questioning session and willingly confessed to the crime by admitting that he mercilessly battered his wife of eleven months and then throttled her to death as he suspected her fidelity and believed that she was having/conducting and extra marital affair with a gent from the same neighbourhood..........
A case of murder and brutality has since been booked against the accused and he is currently incarcerated in judicial custody........
In the second such instance reported from the city; 38 year old Phool Mati; a mother of five daughters was done to death with the help of a sharp edged weapon by her husband of twenty years in the city's Hambran Road area early on Wednesday morning.........
According to the couple's disconsolate daughter; Ram Murti Chauhan; the main accused in this case and a vegetable had a particularly heated and acrimonious argument with his wife of twenty years during which he repeatedly accused her of sleeping around with the men from their locality behind his back..........
Before; Aarti (one of the couple's five daughters) and the few neighbours who had gathered around the spot on hearing the fracas could even begin comprehending the gravity of the situation; Chauhan slit his wife's throat with a sharp edged knife and left the spot leaving behind his grievously injured wife..........
Aarti and a few neighbours somehow managed to rush a copiously bleeding Phool Mati to a nearby government hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead on arrival and the very same hospital's staffers alerted the cops who reached the spot took cognisance of the situation and recorded the statements of Aarti and the neighbours who clearly identified Chauhan as the assailant..........
A case of murder has since been registered against Chauhan on the basis of the recorded statements of eyewitnesses and a massive manhunt has been launched in an effort to nab him at the earliest.........
One only wonders whether intrinsically precious and seemingly irreplaceable human lives have become so cheap and pithy/meaningless that the merest whiff of suspicion is cause enough to snuff them out in their prime...........

STERLING EMBODIMENT OF THE HUMANITARIAN SPIRIT..........

Jis ka koi nahin uska to khuda or then should I say watchman cum tonga driver hai yaaron.........
In a day and age where everybody is obsessed with him/her self to the point of insanity and narcissism is the rule rather than the exception comes a heart warming and truly inspiring tale of an Allahabad based watchman cum part time tonga driver who magnanimously came/stepped forward to adopt a new born baby girl who was cast aside on a railway line and left to die by her biological parents.........
Ganga Prasad; the good samaritan cum angel reincarnate was going for his morning ablutions towards the Mal Godam of the Naini Railway Station when he heard a plaintive and heart rending cry uttered by a creature that he initially thought was a dog in considerable distress and misery........
Thinking that the dog in question might have been cut down by a passing railway train and is in it's death throes; Ganga Prasad surreptitiously made his way towards the creature when to his considerable consternation and utter disbelief he discovered that the creature he thought was a dog in distress turned out to be a new born baby girl with a few wounds on her face and other parts of her miniscule anatomy.........
Without any further ado Ganga Prasad carefully wrapped up the little bundle of humanity in his dhoti and made his way towards his humble and nondescript dwelling where he handed over his new found treasure to his thoroughly overwhelmed and overjoyed wife of twelve years Manju........
Already blessed with two children (Raj (9) and Neelu (7)) who are the apples of this doting couple's hearts and souls; both Ganga Prasad and Manju had undergone sterilisation operations after the birth of their second offspring as they were crystal clear that they could not bring up any more children on the meagre Rs. 1,500/- per month that Ganga Prasad earns from his watch ,manly duties at the Naini Police station plus whatever little he earns from his avatar as a part time tonga driver...........
"God alone knows how many people must have passed by the very same spot where the new born was callously abandoned and passed on without even bothering to provide her with succour and comfort; perhaps it was destined that this little bundle of joy was to come into our lives and illuminate them with the sheer luminosity of her blithe spirit; God is great and if he so will that this little girl should be brought up in the same manner as my other two offspring; so be it"; Ganaga Prasad quips...........
The rest of us enlightened and supposedly educated folks who pontificate and wax eloquent on every conceivable topic and issue under the sun without ever bothering to take the trouble of putting our words and proclamations into action would indeed do well to emulate the sterling examples of Ganga Prasad and Manju who more than willingly brought this abandoned girl child into their unfancied lives and made her a part of the same...........
Shame on us folks who make a lot of ado about nothing but fail to put our thoughts and words into action when it matters the most...........
