RAPE OR NOT?????

Has Hyderabad and it's countless citizens shamed it's womenfolk once again??? well I will let you draw your own conclusions on this one.....


In the latest reported incident of rape and sexual assault in the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, a minor girl was allegedly raped by a truck driver in the city's Bhavani Nagar area in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.......

According to sources closely associated with this case, the alleged assailant Sheru (18 year old truck driver) went to the victim's house at Salam Chowk in the wee hours of Tuesday and unceremoniously assaulted the 16 year old victim taking undue advantage of her innocence and naivete........

The crime only came to light when a family member who was blissfully sleeping in an adjoining room got up to answer nature's call; he raised a hue and cry on seeing a complete stranger within the house and the said assailant made good his escape on hearing the commotion......

As has become the precedent in all such matters, the Bhavani Nagar police has registered a case of rape against Sheru on the basis of a complaint lodged by the family members of the victim and in turn has launched a manhunt in order to apprehend the victim at the earliest.......

One really wonders whether the above mentioned incident was really a case of sexual assault as alleged by the family of the victim or then something else altogether.......

The Bhavani Nagar police would certainly be doing itself a huge favour by simply not accepting the version of events rendered by the family members of the victim and the victim herself at face value and thoroughly investigating all these angles.....

# How did the victim gain entry into the said house in the first place, did her force open a door or a window, if so there must be definite signs of his forced entry into the same, or then did a family member facilitate his entry into the house......

# One finds it extremely difficult to believe that the victim was so innocent and naive that she was blissfully unaware of the fact that she was being raped and sexually assaulted........

# If the incident was indeed a case of rape as claimed by the victim and her family, how is that none of the family members who were asleep in the adjoining rooms did not hear any sounds of a scuffle between the victim and her assailant as a struggle between the perpetrator and victim is a logical outcome of any rape attempt......

# And finally why did the family member who noticed the alleged stranger in the house raise a hue and cry instead of making a concerted effort towards apprehending the said assailant........

RAPE OR NOT, WELL I THINK EACH ONE OF YOU IS WISE ENOUGH TO DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS..........

HOPE FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE?????

Beleaguered and besieged Indian women might soon be enjoying a share in their spouse's (husbands) inherited property if an amendment proposed by the union cabinet is adopted and passed by both houses of parliament......


The Union Cabinet is likely to discuss an amendment which may in the very near future guarantee a divorced woman an equal share in not only the property or properties acquired by the husband during the tenancy or duration of the marriage but also those properties that the husband has already inherited or is likely to inherit during the course of his natural lifetime......

According to sources in the know of things, these welcome and long awaited changes to the to/in the Marriage Laws (Amendment) Bill are slated to be discussed by the Union Cabinet later today......

Though considered to be controversial and contentious, the proposed amendment aims to define or then redefine the term "residential property" in a far more precise, concise and unambiguous manner.......

The above mentioned phrase or term will not only come to mean the residential house or houses but also other properties acquired by the husband. However, commercial properties like shops, factories and so on and so forth acquired by the husband shall be precluded or excluded from the purview of the same term......

This amendment will also include measures to ensure that the divorced wife will be compensated with an equivalent amount of money in lieu of her share in those properties in which other members of the family other than her husband also have shares in the inherited property thereby making a scientific and just division of the spoils a practical impossibility......

The government's hand was forced into introducing these amendments as the Supreme Court in it's infinite wisdom had recently ruled that one co-owner of joint family properties shall not enjoy the unbridled or absolute right to dispose or sell off his undivided share of the property as he so desires........

The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have once again let down their womenfolk and young girl children as is becoming it's habit........

A five (5) year old girl was sexually assaulted by a thirty year old caricature of a man in the latest shameful, horrific and heart rending incident in the neighbouring Maheswaram mandal on Monday evening.......

Both the victim as well as the main accused Mohammed Hasan are residents of the Mohabbat Nagar locality in Maheswaram mandal.......

The accused lured the naive and innocent young waif of a girl into his abode on the pretext of giving her a chocolate and then proceeded with his nefarious objective of brutally assaulting her in an effort to cool down his sexual ardour.....

The local police has since registered a case against the main accused based on the complaint lodged by the hapless victim's family and launched a massive manhunt in an effort to apprehend the main accused as soon as possible.......

MURDER IN BELGAUM........

The beleaguered and barraged Belgaum Police on Sunday announced that they had apprehended the boyfriend of the 20 old year old rape victim who's body was found on a deserted Belgaum road on Saturday night......


Announcing the arrest, the Superintendent of Police Belgaum District announced that the assailant had raped and killed his long standing girlfriend in a fit of rage as she was repeatedly denying his marriage proposals and amorous overtures......

Matters finally came to ahead on Saturday evening and the rapist cum murdered firstly raped his girlfriend or female friend and subsequently killed her before mutilating her body.......

According to police sources the victim was incensed by his girlfriend's steadfast refusal to the extent that he inflicted grievous injuries on her face and neck and also carved her caste identity on her body before dumping the same on a dark, desolate and deserted Belgaum road on Saturday night.......

The very same police sources also ruled out the possibility of the victim having been raped by more than one person; saying that both medical as well as forensic investigations have conclusively established the involvement of one person only and that there were no indications whatsoever about the involvement of another person or persons......

A case of rape, murder and assault with intention to murder with a weapon/weapons has been filed under the relevant/applicable sections of the Indian penal code against the culprit who has since been remanded to judicial custody by the district court .......

GURGAON'S SHAME........

Two women residents of Gurgaon have alleged that they were raped by three men on the pretext of offering them a lift in their car three days back......


The women aged 22 and 45 in a complaint to the Sohna police said that three men who appeared to be in their 40's or thereabouts approached them in their car on Saturday night and offered them a lift in their car between Sohna and Gurgaon's Rajiv Chowk........

Taking them at face value, the two women boarded the said car but to their dismay soon found that the men and car were proceeding to a desolate and deserted spot on Gurgaon's outskirts........

Once they reached the designated spot, the men took turns raping them and then subsequently dumped them in an equally dark and desolate spot after warning them of dire consequences if they reported the matter to the police........

The women however mustered the desired courage and reported the matter to the Sohna police who immediately launched a manhunt for the three accused.......

Medical test have confirmed the incidence of rape and the Sohna police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the Indian penal code against the three assailants who are still at large and unidentified as yet.......

CLUB VERSUS COUNTRY.........

Do we take nothing more than a glorified club championship a little too seriously and do we let narrow parochial and sectarian interests ride roughshod over our love for the nation and our beloved motherland???well, the answers to both these questions is a resounding yes if the deplorable behaviour of the Mumbai Indian fans who had gathered in their thousands to watch the Royal Challengers Bangalore versus Mumbai Indians clash at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium last evening.......


It is sad but true, the Indian Premier League has ended up doing more harm than good to the spirit of nationalism and patriotism that was beginning to rule the roost once again; narrow sectarian interests have begun ruling the roost once again and people of a state/region have begun according their club/IPL side pride of place rather than India or Bharat.......

The over the top reaction of the Mumbai crowd to what was an inadvertent accident at best was not only way over the top and totally uncalled for; but also left a bitter after taste in one's mouth and wondering what the rigmarole was all about.....

What happened was simply this Royal Challengers Bangalore medium pacer Ranganath Vinay Kumar unceremoniously bumped into Mumbai Indians batsman Ambati Rayudu in his effort towards backing up a throw made from the extra cover/mid off region by his skipper Virat Kohli........

Ambati Rayudu found himself short of the safe confines of the crease as a result of this inadvertent collision and taking the long walk back to the pavilion as a result; the umpire at the concerned end Asad Rauf ruled the batsman out as per the rules of the game as the batsman was not consciously impeded by the bowler and should have made an effort to extricate his bat and drag the same into the crease instead of making a cursory effort towards plonking his bat into the crease from between the bowler's feet like he did......

Virat Kohli was well his rights and did the right thing by not recalling the batsman as the umpire was the concerned decision making authority empowered to make the right decision on the spot and he had ruled the batsman out in his infinite wisdom leaving one shaking one's head in consternation at the over reaction that followed......

Let me say once and for all that Virat Kohli is anything but a cheat; yes he does the play the game hard without asking for any quarters or giving any; but he plays the game fairly and squarely, well within the rules and does not need to resort to sleight of hand and subterfuge in order to win a game as he is eminently capable of winning a game on his own.......

What really got my goat was the fact that none of the Mumbai Indians players even made a cursory effort towards pacifying the crowd and cooling incensed tempers they turned a blind eye and deaf ear towards the resonating cries of cheater resounding around the ground and also made no effort to stem the din that reached a crescendo when Virat was asked to make his customary post match deposition during the post match presentation.......

The Mumbai crowd needs to realise that cricket is nothing more than a game after all; it is all about two teams stretching every limb and sinew in an effort to outwit and beat the other, but not about baying for one's blood; you have only insulted the motherland by branding one of her most illustrious and favourite sons a cheat......

Come on Mumbaikars, wake up and smell the coffee, cricket is a game to be enjoyed and celebrated not sullied by cheater chants that were far from fair, grace a cricket match only if you have a thorough understanding of the rules, tenets and precedents of this glorious game; otherwise hold your largely ignorant tongues and stop tarnishing the name of this fair game.......

LITANY OF WOES CONTINUES.......

Just days after the gang rape of a helpless 5 year old in the rape capital of the world, comes yet another equally heart rending, shocking and dastardly incident of a 6 year old girl being gang raped in a public toilet in the national capital's Badarpur area.......


This shameful and deplorable incident took place in the late evening in a public toilet in the Badarpur area that enjoins the national capital region with Faridabad in the neighbouring state of Haryana........

According to the victims uncle they were informed of this dastardly act and heart rending development by a passerby who happened to know the family; the girl was found in a battered condition with copious bleeding from her vaginal and rectum area as well as her throat that was crudely slit by her assailants in an effort to effectively silence her for eternity......

The grievously injured young girl was immediately rushed to the capital's premier medical care institution namely the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and a series of surgeries have been performed on her ever since her admission to the hospital.......

Her medical condition is slated to be stable yet critical and she continues to bravely battle for her life in the intensive care unit of the very same hospital; one assailant namely the contractor who runs and manages the public toilet on a daily basis has been apprehended thus far while the other assailants are still at large.......

Twenty odd people were also taken into custody and subjected to an intensive interrogation, but subsequently let off as the investigating police officials were woefully unable to muster up concrete and action worthy evidence against them......

As has more or less become the norm in such cases, well meaning and concerned citizens of the national capital have once again taken to the streets clamouring for justice and tougher laws that will guarantee the safety and security of the women folk of this glorious nation......

And as usual we again seem to be missing the wood for the trees, what this nation needs is not tougher and more vigorous laws but a far more efficient, professional, sympathetic, empathetic and empowered police force that has both the inclination as well as wherewithal to launch a comprehensive, time bound and result oriented investigation into every such case expressly aimed at bringing the culprits to book within the shortest possible time........

Coupled with a professional and well equipped police force we also need an adequate number of courts and law officers who take cognisance of the evidence produced before them and sentence the culprits expeditiously within the shortest possible time frame.........

At last count the country as a whole was running short off 40,000 odd police personnel, 15,000 odd courts as well as 22,000 odd judges; the government's both at the centre as well as the states have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo and not letting matters reach their logical conclusion......

A robust, independent and professional investigative agency as well as an adequate number of judges as well as courts simply spell doom for the incumbent government's and mean the beginning of the end of the reign of victimisation, selective investigation of crimes and filing of cases against those opposing forces perceived to be inimical and antagonistic to the government and it's nefarious interests.......

The same also means the end of the blatant misuse of the political machinery for narrow, partisan and largely self serving needs and the provision of an adequate number of courts as well as judicial officers means that the slew of cases filed against various politicians for their sins of omission and commission will now be decided in a time bound manner rather than the years together as at present.......

So how do you expect government's and political parties as well as government's who have reduced the police forces within the country to hand maidens and tools of vindictiveness to usher in police as well as judicial reforms and let go off the holy cow???

It has been proved time and again beyond all reasonable doubt that the police forces will never ever shed their sense of inertia and sheer apathy towards investigating and taking crimes committed against the common people of this country to their logical conclusion; and with the existing courts in the country being deluged by the sheer number of cases pending before them, it is only logical that an appellant must consider himself or herself to be extremely lucky and fortunate if the case filed by them or then on their behalf is decided during the course of his/her natural lifetime......

Clamouring for justice and tougher laws is fine as well as justified to a great extent, but what we should really be forcing the government's hands into is the long delayed and much needed police as well as judicial reforms as a professional police force/investigating agency and a robust judicial system capable of handing out telling judgements within the shortest possible time is what is going to improve the situation on the ground; so let's all focus our concerted energies on these issues instead of clamouring for elusive justice as has become our habit........

DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS........

And the madness that seems to have inflicted the Indian man when it comes to matters pertaining to women and their bodies continues unabated.......


In the first instance or incident, a husband (man) allegedly slit the throat of his wife (woman) and compounded her misery or then inflicted the ultimate insult of them all on her by carrying her body around in full public view for more than an hour or so after slitting the woman's throat......

This grotesque and horrifying incident played itself out or unravelled itself within the boundaries of the Mypadu village in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore district; the irate and somewhat deranged murderer kept the rest of his fellow villagers at bay with the aid of a sickle, knife and implied threats about sending any adventurer to an early grave....

One brave villager however had the presence of mind to inform the police who as is their wont arrived suitably late and launched a meaningless and largely hunt for the culprit who had already made good his escape by boarding an auto rickshaw on national highway 5.......

In the second equally horrifying and shocking incident a mentally deranged woman was brutally gang raped at Lakkavaram village in Jangareddygudem mandal of Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district on Friday evening........

The two assailants were however detained by their fellow villagers and soundly thrashed by the very same before being duly handed over to the local policemen.....

They (the rapists) are currently languishing their heels in jail and have been remanded to judicial custody after the local police force booked cases against them under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) pertaining to outraging the modesty of a woman, forcibly holding her against her will and rape........

One only wonders when and how this madness that seems to have afflicted the average Indian male will be suitably and permanently cured; community leaders have maintained a studied and stoic silence on this gross violation of human/woman's rights and are yet to come forward and condemn this reprehensible behaviour on the part of the Indian male......

The double standards, intransigence and shocking indifference displayed by the community and society as a whole to the increasingly heart rending plight is mystifying and deeply disturbing to say the very least; we are double quick to affix labels on the foreheads of women and brand them as prostitutes, daayans, witches, charlatans, harlots and so on and so forth......

So why don't we display the same alacrity and agility as far as our menfolk are concerned; the good lord did not differentiate and distinguish between the two sexes so has bestowed the right to do so on humans.......

THE TEST OF MY LIFE........

Just put down my copy of Yuvraj Singh's "the test of my life" and must confess that I feel honoured, privileged, humbled, unshackled and inspired by the same.......


At best the biography is about hope, determination and the inherent courage to face and overcome seemingly insurmountable odds, the book goads, coerces and inspires you to reach deep within yourself and surmount the very last barrier or then as one Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar says: "this book is nothing else other than pure inspiration".......

WELL INTENTIONED DIRECTIVE.......

The Supreme Court yesterday held out an olive branch to the scores of rape victims spread across the length and breadth of this vast land by ordering all state governments to implement it's 18 year old directive pertaining to the setting up of boards to adequately compensate hapless rape victims.........


"Victims of sexual assault need an entirely different kind of treatment vis a vis the kind of treatment being meted out to them by the society as a whole and state authorities on a daily basis", the Supreme Court said in response to a query pertaining to the question of compensating rape victims........

The 1995 judgement of the apex court had directed the states to set up Criminal Injuries Justice Boards within their respective territories and opined that the same could be entrusted with the onerous responsibility of determining the quantum of compensation payable by the rapist to the victim in lieu of the governing fact that the victim always suffered a huge financial loss on account of the crime committed against her in addition to the loss of face and prestige in this male dominated and oriented society.......

Laying down fresh guidelines and issuing new instructions, the court said "The said board shall take on board or consider the pain, humiliation, sense of shock and horror suffered by the victim in addition to the loss of earnings on account of an unwanted and forced pregnancy as well as the additional burden imposed on the victim on account of the birth of a child as a result of the sexual assault perpetrated on her".......

Reiterating or firmly repeating the above mentioned guidelines, a bench comprising of Justices B.S. Chauhan and FMI Kaliffulla said "It is needless to mention that any direction or orders issued by this court shall be binding on all the other courts as well as the civil authorities within the nation's boundaries"........

Manna from heaven indeed or just yet another good intentioned directive that gets buried under red tape and official indifference; let's wait and watch............

Lo and behold, the stadium and the thousands who had braved the elements in order to throng the stadium found themselves enveloped in a Gayle storm that not only swept the stadium but the hapless opposition bowlers off their hustings.......

Every corner of this hallowed stadium was peppered with boundaries and over boundaries with the wide arc between cover point and wide midwicket being favoured more than most, the spectators went into uncontrolled raptures of delight while the bowlers on the other side were soon seeking a place to hide.......

Savage pulls, effortless straight drives, hoiks over square leg, lofted cover drives, back cuts, square cuts, late cuts, flicks, deft leg glances and last but not the least a majestic straight drive that travelled the mammoth distance of 119 metres; this superlative knock had all this and more........

CONTINUED SHAME, HORROR AND MISERY........

The shame, horror, misery and tsunami of rapes continues unabated......


In the latest instance/incident a 17 year old young woman was brutally sexually assaulted by her neighbour in Hyderabad's Falaknuma locality on April 19......

The victim was firmly entrenched in her humble abode all by herself, when her thirty year old male neighbour Mohammed Sharif a daily wager residing in the very same locality stealthily made his way into the victim's house and sexually assaulted the polio affected/afflicted victim.......

A case was duly registered under section 376 (Rape) of the Indian Penal Code against the culprit on the basis of a complaint filed by the girl's parents in this regard and a subsequent medical test performed on the victim in a government hospital confirmed the occurrence or incidence of rape.......

Mohammad Sharif was apprehended from his dwelling on late Sunday evening and remanded to judicial custody on Monday...........

HOME MINISTERS' GAFFES.......

The pan India rape epidemic continues unabated no place however obscure, remote or far removed from the media limelight is immune to this epidemic; Silchar, Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Shillong, Meghalaya, Mysore, Travancore and so on and so forth, rapists are on the prowl everywhere Indian women beware......


What is more galling is the fact that the powers that be namely the union home minister as well as the capital's commissioner of police are more concerned with justifying and vindicating their apathy, disinterestedness or lack of sympathy and abject apathy towards the victims.......

The police commissioner has the gall to ask the media why he should resign when the actions of his subordinates have shown the Delhi police in extremely poor light; Mr. Police Commissioner you should simply see the writing on the wall and carve out a honourable and dignified exit for yourself as your subordinates take their lead from you and their behaviour is only bound to be a mirror image or reflection of your shameful and galling behaviour towards Delhi's female denizens......

Our home minister has this uncanny ability to end up putting the rest of his body in his mouth every time he condescends to open it; as if the act of naming Nirbhaya on the floor of the Rajya Sabha and a subsequent press briefing was not enough, the home minister this time around said that "rape was a pan Indian phenomenon, so why is Delhi being singled out for special attention"......

Delhi is being singled out for special attention as Delhi has acquired the dubious distinction of being the "rape capital" of the world Mr. Home Minister, law and order in the capital falls within your domain, the lieutenant governor of the national capital directly reports to you and is wholly and solely answerable to you and therefore the failure of a police force under your control to make the female residents of the capital feel everything bur safe and secure is a telling testimony of you inefficiency, incompetence, blundering and passing the buck every time you are confronted with a far from bracing situation......

Perform or perish is an age old dictum, but the same seems to be conspicuous by it's absence in our country; chief minister after chief minister, home minister after home minister, the prime minister, de facto ruler of the country (Sonia Gandhi), leaders of opposition in both houses of parliament, police chiefs and others of their ilk shed crocodile tears, mouth platitudes, make tall and hollow promises about redeeming the situation and then conveniently move on........

Why don't you people simply put your money where your mouth is and resign because you are incompetent and incapable of handling this rather alarming state of affairs in the country pertaining to the constantly escalating number of rapes and other sexual atrocities being committed against women is concerned; we have had our fill of platitudes, hollow and false ringing expressions of sorrow, remorse and regret, please get real, start performing and initiating measures to arrest this heinous trend......

A mandatory death sentence being touted for all child rapists by the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha and other strident voices could be a suitable deterrent provided the case is investigated, judged and taken to it's logical conclusion within a maximum of 90 days from the date on which the rape or sexual crime against the female victim was perpetrated...........

Other measures like chemical or permanent castration of first time and repeat offenders, naming and shaming of rapists and setting up of a national gallery of shame exclusively comprising of the mug shots of every arrested rapist and airing the same on every television channel and in every national daily are other measures that can be actively considered and adopted.......

The collective patience of the nation has all but run out and the collective anger of the populace has reached it's zenith, act in the best interests of the nation and it's women before it's too late, act before the protesting mobs turn into lynch mobs and you have complete mayhem and carnage on the streets of the nation..........

POLICE REFORMS:HOPE FOR THE FUTURE.........

The game of passing the buck mastered by both the central as well as state government's continues to be played with both alacrity and a renewed sense of purpose, the issue this time being the rather contentious, controversial and oft discussed long pending police reforms........


New Delhi (read the Centre) wants the states to bite the bullet and assume the leading role in implementing several measures and suggestions made by the second Administrative Reforms Council (ARC) on the long standing issue of better, more efficient and far more professional policing without having done anything whatsoever in this regard on it's part other than letting the same report gather dust over the last four years and more......

Nodal Agency, the Union Home Ministry which had send out missives to all the states asking them to revert back by April 15 with valid suggestions on the recommendations and suggestions made by the ARC has thus far woefully failed to even implement those suggestions as well as recommendations that exclusively fall under the purview of the Union Government, more specifically or succinctly in Union territories including the national capital.........

Even the much touted and hyped Model Police Act that envisages or visualises well defined roles and demarcation of duties of the police force and the responsiveness and sensitivity shown by the same towards the common man are still to be adopted and assume the shape and form of a concrete structure or law as yet........

Other timely relevant and incisive suggestions such as the one's pertaining to the abolition of the outdated and archaic orderly system from within the annals of the police force and the introduction of a professional investigative system wherein the district attorney would oversee, overview and guide investigations into crimes committed in districts and last but not the least complete devolution or separation of the investigative and the other arms of the police force have been reduced to nothing more than discussion or debating points during the course of numerous seminars and conferences held on the long standing issue of police reforms......

The Supreme Court had come up with seven relevant and necessary recommendations on this issue as far back as 2006; and these suggestions included the laying down of a minimum prescribed term of two years of continuous service for the ranks of the State Director General of Police Commissioner of Police and officers on sensitive operational duties, complete and clinical separation of the the investigative and law and order functions of the police and many other such allied measures that would immunise as well as insulate the police from political interference in the discharging of their duties on a daily basis, but as usual nothing much has been done in this regard as well other glossing over the recommendations and paying cursory lip service to them........

There however is a silver lining to this rather dark cloud looming over the horizon over this blow hot blow cold issue of initiation and implementation of police reforms; the matter will come up for hearing before a Supreme Court Bench on April 25 wherein the home ministry will have to furnish concrete and plausible reasons for it's woeful failure to begin the long delayed process of the initiation and beginning of police reforms........

Will this hearing help in getting matters of the ground at long last or then will it be back to square one with both the centre as well as the states continuing to pass the buck around as has become their wont and continued practice in this regard, well your guess on this one is as good as mine........

BRUTAL BESTIAL REGRESSIVE AND REPRESSIVE.......

Brutal, bestial, inhuman, callous, indifferent, a power unto themselves, trigger happy, suppliant, bending over backwards in order to please their political masters and a few more are the choice epithets that have come to be associated with the Delhi police off late......


"With you for you always" is the governing dictum of the Delhi police, yes the Delhi police is certainly at the beck and call of their political overlords and masters, over 65% of them are deployed on/in security and bandobast related duties of their overlords and masters, 10% of them constantly report sick or are then unfit to perform their assigned duties for some inane reason or the other and the remaining 25% are simply too few to accord a feeling of safety and security amongst the populace of one of India's most densely populated metropolises.......

Loutishness and an unabashed and totally arrogant display of police power has been the calling card of the Delhi police ever since Delhiites started congregating in droves to raise their collective voices against the pronounced inability of the Delhi police to provide a modicum of safety and security to millions of hapless women who become nothing more than sitting ducks in the complete absence of the same.......

The existence of two India's within the five hundred odd square kilometres of India's capital territory is a stark reality thanks to the irrational and ham handed behaviour of the Delhi police personnel; the Delhi police displays tenets of subservient, deferential and sycophant behaviour towards it's lords and masters and a brutal, loutish, inhuman and barbaric behavioural pattern towards those common people who are neither well connected politically nor enjoy the perks related to power, pelf and economic prosperity........

Slaps, a barrage of lathis, blows and punches, water cannons, tear gas shells and a lot more besides are the bane of an average Delhiites everyday existence and so forlorn and woebegone has the situation on the ground become that more than a few Delhiites have begun to accept the same as an existential hazard and even begun turning a blind eye towards the presence of the same.......

Unfortunately, the Delhi police seems to have bitten off more than it can chew in the latest instance, the brouhaha attached to the rather heart rending spectacle of defenceless, weaponless and hapless residents of Delhi being mercilessly lathi charged by the men in khakhi at India Gate had just about died down that the Delhi police finds itself staring down the end of a rather long and desolate barrel thanks to a trigger happy DCP stationed in the relatively impoverished and downtrodden North east region of the capital city slapping a female Aam Aadmi party volunteer at least four times if various reports emanating from various sections of the media are to be believed......

And pray what was the crime of the said women volunteer; she was raising her voice along with hundreds of others like her against the area police's indifference towards the heart rending plight of a five year old rape victim and their pronounced inability to provide the same victim with adequate and essential medical facilities.......

Infact so brutal and heinous was the assault on the Aam Aadmi party volunteer that she received copiously bleeding injuries on the internal part of one ear and had to be treated forthwith within the same hospital outside whose portals she was ironically protesting.......

As is customary, the police commissioner of Delhi has not only suspended the concerned ACP but also the SHO of the police station under whose jurisdiction the five year old girl was brutally raped and savaged as well as the investigating officer who failed or then simply registered to register a missing complaint in the first instance and then offered the mother of the girl a token amount of 2,000 rupees in order to save his side.......

Most if not all of us know the ultimate or eventual outcome of such departmental enquiries, the erring cops will be reprimanded and then ushered in through the back door once the public's memory about the incident fades away and the din, clamour and collective baying for blood fizzles out and dies it's natural death......

Such cosmetic enquiries are not the solution to the problem, far reaching, time bound, effective, efficacious and sweeping police reforms are; one was witness to the tragi-comic spectacle of the Congress representative Abid Rasool and the person incharge of the Congress' online campaigns Tehseen Poonawala taking the supposedly moral high ground and advocating the cause of sweeping police reforms in a debate on Newshour last night......

May one take the liberty of asking the very same Abid Rasool as to why he has not advocated and initiated the much desired police reforms in his home state of Andhra Pradesh, the said state has a Congress chief minister and a police set up eminently suitable to his professed cause, "charity begins at home" Mr. Rasool or then was the pretext of police reforms just another attempt at side stepping this rather contentious and divisive issue........

As things stand at the present moment, the honourable Supreme Court is the only ray of hope in this if not all other such related cases, the Chief Justice of India and two other fellow judges have sought off missives to all the state authorities asking for detailed and time bound replies pertaining to the state of political reforms within their territorial boundary........

This missive is the only way forward so let's all barrage the Supreme Court with a barrage of reminders, pleas and public interest litigations related to the issue of long delayed and desired police reforms, collective action is the crying need of the hour, so let's aside our petty differences for the moment and come together on a common platform.......

YET ANOTHER ATROCITY.........

Our national capital namely New Delhi certainly seems to be doing it's utmost to live up to and justify it's dubiously acquired distinction of being the rape capital of the country if not the entire world........


A 19 year old Nepali woman who works as a domestic help in the capital's Defence Colony area was allegedly gang raped by three men on the pretext of giving her a lift in their car on Wednesday night......

The said woman/victim was found in a semi-conscious and semi naked state in the capital's Moti Bagh area on Thursday morning; a good samaritan (read tea vendor) took notice of her pitiable and dishevelled state and asked her who she was and where she was from, the victim burst into a torrent of tears on being asked this but still had the presence of mind and alacrity to pen down her name, Kotla Mubarakpur, rape and Nepal with a piece of brick, the tea vendor summoned the nearest available police help van on seeing this........

This is the sequence of events as narrated to the police officials by the hapless victim as and when she was in a coherent state; the lady in question decided to pay her brother who lives in the Chiragh Delhi area a surprise visit on Wednesday night, to her dismay and deep rooted disappointment she finds the door of her brother's dwelling locked and decides to return home forthwith.......

She steps onto the main road and starts looking out for s suitable mode of conveyance and is approached by a man in a car who asks her the way to Malviya Nagar; she informs him about the way to his destination, but also lets him know that she is going to Kotla Mubarakpur........

As if doing his customary good deed for the day, the driver duly offers to drop her and she gets into the car without an inkling of the tragic fate that was about to befall her, the driver makes his way to the Vasant Vihar area and is soon joined by two of his friends who also make their way into the said car.......

The car and it's four occupants then wend their way toi the adjoining Gurgaon area and only stop on reaching a guest house, the three alleged rapists then force a couple of sedative laced drinks the throat of the helpless 19 year old and then proceed to repeatedly gang rape her........

She (the victim), finds herself in an open field in the Gurgaon area when she recovers her senses on Thrusday morning, to her immense relief she comes across a helpful auto driver who drops her off in front of the Gurudwara where she is eventually found and rescued.........

Currently being treated at the capital's Safdarjung Hospital, the victim is continuously slipping into an out of consciousness as a result of the sedative laden drinks that were forced down her throat, the victim has not suffered any external injuries and a series of tests have been performed upon her in order to ascertain the extent of the internal injuries suffered by her during the course of the brutal sexual assault.......

A case has been registered against the three unidentified assailants and the Delhi police has launched a massive manhunt to arrest/apprehend them at the earliest.......

HOPE FOR A BETTER FUTURE??????

I honestly am beginning to get a little tired and wary of highlighting and exposing the shenanigans of self styled lotharios who have come to believe that committing a sexual atrocity against a seemingly defenceless woman is their birthright and exposing the misdeeds of corrupt and indifferent police officials and callous systen that has come to believe that pleasing it's political lords and masters is it's primary objective and the common man can go to hell as far as they are concerned.......


But then, somebody's got to bite the bullet and expose all the filth, dirt and muck churned up by our so called progressive and evolving society, so do continue to call me boring, obnoxious, pretentious, sensationalist or any other epithet that you can think off, the same is like water off a duck's back as far as I am concerned, somebody's got to get down into the filth and muck and get his hands dirty; so why not me.......

In the first instance, the family members and other good intentioned fellow citizens who were vociferously protesting against the police inaction and apathy towards the plight of a six year old minor who was allegedly sexually assaulted before being strangulated by her assailants were brutally attacked by a marauding bunch of policemen in full public view as well as the glare of television as well still cameras......

The six year old went missing early on Wednesday morning and her corpse was later discovered some distance away from where she lived, the finding of the body lead to a few people gathering outside the police station and raising their collective voices in protest against the callous and indifferent police who had steadfastly refused to register a missing complaint as is their wont........

In the second instance of police brutality, a 43 year old woman Kuljeet Kaur was not only brutally attacked by police personnel but also unceremoniously disrobed in a village 20 kms away from Amritsar District in Punjab........

Ms. Kaur was on her way to deliver essential medicines and other life saving drugs to her husband/spouse Satinderjit Singh on Wednesday night when the deplorable and condemnable incident occurred.......

This incident comes in the wake off a similar incident in Punjab's Tarn Taran district where a woman who was imploring the police officials to initiate action against her assailants and stalkers was brutally beaten up by a group of police constables ans sub inspector who was leading the assault on the hapless woman.......

What really gets one's goat and is a cause of concern is the fact that this disease or malady is not restricted to the two above mentioned states, but is a pan Indian phenomenon......

I for one have seen the Hyderabad police officials displaying similar obnoxious behaviours towards women and teenagers on more than one occasion and have also come across such instances being recorded or perpetrated in police stations exclusively manned or policed by lady constables and higher ups........

Humanising the police force, freeing the police forces from the clutches of their avaricious political overlords and accountability of the police for it's actions as well as inaction is the crying need of the hour, the Supreme Court has recently taken suo moto cognisance of this undeniable fact and asked the respective state governments to revert back with status reports about the present state of police reforms and independence of the police force within their respective state boundaries, this is the only concrete development on the ground that holds out the semblance of a better future for the common man vis a vis the police force and it's political overlords and masters, so let's see where all this leads.........

MALAISE SPREADS IT''S TENTACLES............

As committing unspeakable sexual atrocities against hapless Indian women was not enough, Indian males or then should I say students have begun spreading their tentacles to foreign shores in an effort to spread their notoriety far and wide and to show the whole wide world that the supposedly emerging superpower is also a super power as far as committing despicable crimes against womenfolk are concerned.....


The news emerging from London about an Indian student being sentenced to ten years in jail for raping a 'celebrity female guest' during a stint as a porter/waiter at a luxury hotel last October (October 2012) not only makes me hang my head in utter shame and humiliation but also gives rise to a whole lot of questions about the demented minds and depraved souls of Indian males.......

Twenty five year old Soby John who entered the United Kingdom on a student visa was gainfully employed as a porter at the Hilton London Metropole in London at the time of committing this heinous crime.........

He gained access to the celebrity female guests hotel room by using his staff key card and proceeded to rape the woman by using a blue latex glove as a substitute for a condom; he took photos of the victim on his mobile in a nude, seemingly helpless and dishevelled state, he also dressed up the crime scene to make it appear as if the sexual act between the two had been consensual..........

Soby then proceeded to enter his mobile number in the phone book on the celebrity guest's mobile and even sent her messages that alluded to the two being more than mere acquaintances; the victim a well known TV celebrity in her early 20's was in a thoroughly inebriated state and more or less incapable of warding off her rapists sexual and physical overtures........

All said and done the young Indian male has ruined the rest of his natural life with this single act of desperation and depravity; he has not only brought untold shame on himself as well as the nation as a whole but also succeeded in making the lives of other Indian students similarly employed in other London hotels some kind of living hell as every act of theirs is now being viewed with increasing suspicion by the respective hotel's managements as well as guests........

SCRAP DEALER BRUTALISED AND BUTCHERED...........

As if the incessant spate of sexual crimes against hapless women was not enough of an ignominy and anomaly, now comes the latest instance of a 35 year old female scrap dealer being brutally murdered for the sake of her silver anklets in a village on Hyderabad's outskirts.......


Shankaramma, a 35 year old scrap dealer and wife of one Balappa from Kokapet was brutally murdered by two unidentified assailants late on Tuesday night/ early Wednesday morning at around 2:30 a.m. or so.......

According to police sources, the fifty plus tola silver anklets that adorned Shankaramma's ankles were the immediate reason or cause behind the gruesome murder and the chronology of events may have been as follows:

The unidentified miscreants knocked on Shankaramma's door at around 2:30 a.m. and gained entry into the same on the pretext of selling some scrap and other related items, they then proceeded to firstly throttle the victim and then brutalise her head with a boulder to make sure that she was well and truly dead........

They then proceeded to wreak the ultimate insult or humiliation on the body of the deceased by chopping of both her legs from below the knees with a sharp and pointed object and making good their escape with the victim's anklet adorned legs for company........

In the meanwhile, the hapless 12 year old son who had woken up on hearing the commotion was shocked and dismayed to see the body of his doting mother in this grotesque condition, he in turn informed his neighbours and they proceeded to inform both the police as well as the unfortunate husband of the victim who was spending the night at his friend's place in an adjoining/ neighbouring village.......

The area police has already constituted two teams to investigate the matter and launched a massive manhunt for the culprits, the mutilated body has been sent to a government hospital for a post mortem and a case has been registered under section 302 (Murder) of the Indian Penal Code as the yet unidentified assailants........

DEVIOUS ANTICS OF SUPPOSED JUVENILES..........

Do films or then more specifically the antics of heroes on the silver screen influence gullible and impressionable minds to the extent that they set out to impersonate or re enact the deeds committed by their demi god on screen without either pausing to ponder over either the consequences or end result of their actions........


The answer to the above question is certainly a resounding yes if the following instance is regarded as the bench mark: A sixth standard student residing in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore district hired a taxi and slit the throat of the trusting and unsuspecting taxi driver as he saw the hero in a Telugu film doing the same......

This class six student had recently seen matinee idol Prabhas enact nearly the same scene in his recent blockbuster "Rebel" and was obsessed with the idea of replicating the same no matter what according to sources in the know of things.......

Lo and behold, this young and impressionable boy plans his actions down to the nearest second, boards his school bus as per his daily routine, gets down half way or then alights from the bus on the pretext of visiting a nearby temple in order to invoke the divine blessings of the presiding deity........

He conveniently leaves his school bag behind in the very same school bus but does not forget to purchase a shaving blade like the one used by hairdressers to shave their customers from the adjoining market......

His next step in an intricately charted out web is to proceed to a travel agent's premises in Gudur and hire a taxi by promising and reassuring the travel agent that his parents would more than willingly dole out all the applicable charges and levies.....

Once he has the said taxi and taxi driver at his beck and call, this devious minded boy then leads the hapless taxi driver a merry dance through twisting and turning lanes and bylanes and after a suitable interval alights from the taxi when the taxi driver begins questioning him about the whereabouts of his parents supposedly broken down vehicle.......

As per his already charted out schedule and devious plan he then purports to pull out the razor or shaving blade and threaten the taxi driver with dire consequences if he does not do the disappearing act and stop pestering him for the applicable fare.......

A slit throat is the end result of the altercation between the taxi driver and this supposedly young, innocent and impressionable lad; alert passersby who noticed this young lad attack the driver, rushed the copiously bleeding driver to a nearby hospital and also handed over the assailant to police officials from the nearest police station......

The drivers is not on the critical list and is well on the road to recovery as the boy was not able to muster up the required force to inflict a life threatening injury and the young criminal mastermind has since been shifted to the nearest juvenile home as required by the tenets of the laws applicable to this case..........

Which brings us back to the moot question why the boy who possesses the dexterity and maturity of mind to plot, plan and carry out such a devious and life threatening act all on his own should not be sentenced as per the laws applicable to adults in the same instance........

As is their wont, bleeding hearts and self styled juvenile rights activists are out in full force and crying themselves hoarse asking for the boy to be tried under the juvenile justice act.........

All one would like to ask these bleeding hearts and self styled activists is whether the assailants are the only one's with rights or then do the hapless victims of these criminal masterminds have some rights too; one fails to understand the rationale behind the argument that this supposedly young and impressionable mind is mature enough to plot, plan, execute and purport this devious and seemingly life threatening act but not mature enough to bear the consequences of his actions.......

For sanity's sake and the prevalence of rule of law cut out the hypocrisy and dyed in wool antics and do let saner and far more rational minds prevail in this instance at least.........

IS THIS THE INDIA WE REALLY WANT?????

Is this the India we really want; an India where women are regarded as nothing more than objects of sexual gratification or then as the worldly possessions of their supposed lord and master to be used in any manner whatsoever as per his discretion or then abject lack of it........


Whatever happened to the India where a woman was regarded as an equal if not superior of her male counterpart; an ARDHANGINI or equal, a female replica of her male counterpart, are suppressing the hopes, aspirations, desires and rightful claims of the so called weaker sex the hallmarks and distinguishing features of a so called 'evolving' and 'progressive' Indian society??????

Instances like the one about a heavily pregnant woman being gang raped by three male assailants who knew no better or more precisely wanted to know no better; one really wonders how a seemingly bloated and supposedly distorted female form can stimulate or invigorate any normal male libido and instigate him to commit the most heinous and gruesome crime against humankind.......

Pray, tarry a moment, hold your horses for a while, let apart heavily pregnant women, one has also read and come across reports of eighty year old great grand mothers being brutally raped, four month old infants being sexually assaulted and left to die and last but not the least, 14 year old daughters being raped by their very own fathers who happen to be senior Bihar Administrative Service Officials repeatedly over a three month time span and threatened with either expulsion from their home and hearth or then this very planet if they spill the beans to an outsider or another family member.....

Are Indian women, girl children, infants and toddlers really safe and secure within the four walls and seemingly sacrosanct precincts of their very own homes, certainly not if the contents of a startling and revealing report put out by human rights watchdog Amnesty International are any yardstick to go by........

This report has starkly revealed the ugly and heinous face of our increasingly hypocritical but seemingly holier than thou society and arrived at the conclusion that almost 85% of all sexual crimes committed against children below the age of ten are either committed by a blood relative of the victim or then somebody inextricably linked to the family of the victim or then intimately acquainted with it......

India oh India, kyaa kehnaa teraa, I am so lucky ke tu hain mera went the lines of a song both penned, composed as well as sung by Anu Malik not too long ago; but are we really lucky to be born as Indians or then are the inhuman, despicable and desperate acts of an increasing number of us menfolk forcing the rest of us to hang our heads in shame and mortification.......

I for one steadfastly refuse to hang my head in shame and mortification, I have been raising my voice and will continue raising my voice against this deplorable tendency and disparaging beahviour till my very last breath; I give a damn for the consequences, at the worst can a fate worse than death befall me; I will always prefer dying a hero's death once and for all rather than dying a coward's death a thousand times over.......

Friends, fellows and countrymen, the time to simply look the other way and sweep this unpleasantness under the carpet is well past us; as the Times of India advertorial in this regard calling for heroes to take up cudgels on behalf of our seemingly hapless women says wanted heroes to take a firm and unequivocal stand in favour of the Indian woman, I for one can proudly say that I am one of those men who has decided to and begun making a difference, can you say the same about yourself..........

SORRY INSTANCES CONTINUE........

An almost year long one sided love affair ended on a rather tragic, sombre and gruesome note with the wannabe "ROMEO" brutally raping his "JULIET" in Hyderabad's Amberpet area on April 10......


According to sources in the know of things, the assailant was rather upset with his female counterpart as she had reportedly spurned his romantic overtures on numerous occasions and he resorted to this rather despicable and desperate measure in order to teach her a lesson and make her come around to his way of thinking......

The alleged rapist, an engineering student hailing from Afghanistan forcibly led the young lady in question to his lodgings in Govind Nagar, Amberpet on the fateful day of April 10 and sexually assaulted her within the precincts of the very same lodgings.....

For a change, the Osmania University police officials displayed rare alacrity and sensitivity and arrested the assailant on Friday following a written complaint lodged by the 23 year old post graduate student (victim) who hails from the north eastern part of our motherland........

Relevant cases have been registered against the alleged rapist under sections 376 (Rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and the alleged rapist who came into contact with the hapless victim through common friends is now cooling his ardour and libido behind bars......

As is the established norm in such instances, the victim has been sent to a government hospital for a detailed medical examination and the reports of the very same examination are awaited.........

FIT CASE FOR "BOBBITISATION"?????

The Indian man seems well on his way towards plummeting into the deepest and innermost recesses of hell and purgatory; the sexual depravity of Indian men surely seems to have touched rock bottom and one wonders whether there is any scope whatsoever for it to plummet any further........


In the latest instance of such shocking, heinous, devious, deviant and depraved sexual behaviour a four month old female infant was brutally sexually assaulted by a neighbour who was intimately acquainted with her family.......

This grievous and shocking instance took place in Bihar's Bhojpur district on Wednesday evening when the alleged assailant took the four month old daughter of a tea vendor from the clutches of her seemingly unsuspecting and trusting family on the pretext of taking her out of her home and hearth for a short interval.......

The suspected rapist then took the infant to an isolated and far less frequented spot and wreaked this act of sexual depravity on a child who was incapable of either defending herself, resisting his unwelcome overtures or even capable of understanding the consequences of the same.......

One can only wonder how a seemingly normal and rational person can even envisage and imagine committing an inhuman, barbaric, hellish and demonic act against a female child who is incapable of even feeding on her own........

I for one firmly believe that the time for pussyfooting on this contentious and heart rending issue is well past us, we need to start making an example out of all such sexual predators and start "bobbitising" them to show them that we indeed mean business.....

Anyway, coming back to this grievous incident, the assailant subsequently abandoned the infant in the very same isolated spot and made good his escape from the spot, the infant was retrieved from the spot from by her family members who arrived on the scene led by her plaintive cries........

The bruised, battered and copiously bleeding infant was immediately rushed to the Sadar hospital and the same hospital's authorities in turn referred her to Patna's Medical College and Hospital where a detailed medical examination carried out on her confirmed the incidence of rape.......

An FIR has been lodged against the absconding offender and the concerned police authorities have initiated a massive man hunt in the adjoining districts and areas to apprehend him without any further ado..........

DESPERATE TIMES; DEPRAVED MEASURES..........

Desperate and increasingly out of control times call for equally depraved and draconian measures as an effective counter measure or deterrent and the spate of rapes and sexual crimes against women that seem to be spiralling out of control surely call for a spate of such effective counter measures.......


A supposedly far more stringent, effective, efficacious and far reaching anti rape law was formally adopted almost two weeks back or a fortnight ago and also entered the relevant statute books as the newest law to be passed in a long list of laws pertaining to the safety and security of the supposedly weaker sex........

The new law unfortunately has done precious little to control or inhibit the ardour and sexual urges of wannabe or serial rapists and if anything provided an added fillip to the depraved desires of such sexual predators and urged them to increase the incidence of such sexual crimes and atrocities cocking a snook at the law makers and authorities in the bargain........

I for one am completely dismayed and flabbergasted by the recent turn of events, the woeful failure of both the law makers as well as implementers to redeem an increasingly alarming situation and have decided to do something on my very own about this situation.........

A wise man once told me something about a supposedly evolving society making every conceivable effort to suppress and subjugate the collective voices and consciences of their womenfolk by resorting to a slew of repressive and depraved measures expressly aimed at destroying their honour and chastity and the same certainly holds true for our supposedly 'evolving' society........

Well, every desperate situation calls for an equally stringent and efficacious counter measure and the increasing incidence of sexual crimes against women cries out for timely, effective, stringent and far reaching measures that hurt the rapists the most where it really matters........

One such easily implementable and measure that can immediately assume concrete shape is the initiation of chemical castration of the perpetrator in the first instance of such a crime being committed by him against a girl child below the age of 12 and the surgical removal of his testicles in case of a repeat offence.......

Male right activists and other such hypocrites might cry themselves hoarse calling the adoption of such measures an unassailable assault on the rights of men folk and yet another attempt made by hardliners and dyed in the wool feminists to subjugate the traditional hegemony and supremacy enjoyed by the Indian man, what I in turn for one would like to ask them is whether the Indian woman and girl child also enjoy an equal amount of such rights both enshrined in as well as guaranteed by the Indian constitution.......

Men or more specifically Indian men have had it far too good for too long and such a lopsided and male dominated social set up is an anachronism in today's times of equal opportunities and both sexes being equal partners in the path to progress and greater glory of human kind as a whole........

The powers that be in the Supreme Court of India as well as other such sterling legal luminaires need to apply their minds and come up with effective and timely counter measures to counter this period of sexual depravity and seemingly deviant behaviour, a rape is not only an assault on a woman, but an assault on a family, society and nation as a whole........

Woe befall a nation that fails to protect and secure the rights and existence of it's womenfolk and fairer sex that not only gives birth to future generations but also nurtures, educates and brings it up in a suitable manner; our society has been taking perverse pleasure in relegating women to a second class and subsidiary status for far too long and is surely destined to plummet into the innermost and deepest recesses of hell unless we start according our women their due place in society......

A doomed society or a society where both sexes are equal partners in it's progress, onward evolutions and ultimate outcome; well the choice is yours.........

CONSTABLE BEATEN BLACK AND BLUE...........

Is this a precursor of things to come in the near future????or then does this incident simply highlight the frustration of the common man with the legal system, well whatever it was, it certainly left a police constable and wannabe rapist black and blue and somewhat wiser after the incident one hopes......


Shankar a 45 year old constable attached with/to the Dhoma police station in the neighbouring Ranga Reddy district went to the nearby Rakonda village on a personal errand on Tuesday night and ended up barging his way into the home of a Dalit woman.......

The victim was alone at home at the time when the said Shankar barged into the same in an inebriated state; the alleged victim however kept her wits about her and rushed out of the house while simultaneously raising a hue and cry once the wannabe lothario started groping and feeling her up inappropriately......

Neighbours and fellow villagers rushed to the victim's aid on hearing the commotion, took matters into their own hands, beat the constable black, blue and a few other shades before summoning his fellow cops from the very same police station.,.......

Shankar began complaining of breathlessness and chest pain as soon as his fellow police personnel arrived on the scene and was rushed to a private hospital in Hyderabad for treatment.......

A case has been duly registered against the wannabe rapist constable under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the SC and ST (prevention) of atrocities act based upon the complaint filed by the victim in this regard, the constable however is yet to be formally arrested........

SEX CRIME IN GOA..........

The spate or then should I say torrent of rapes and sexual crimes against women all across the country continues unabated: Goa, Pondicherry, Nagaland, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru; you name the city and the same to be a more than willing participant in this bizarre battle of oneupmanship.........


In the latest incident, a commerce graduate hailing from the city of Nawabs i.e. our very own Hyderabad has alleged that she was continually raped over a three day period by her own male friend and confidante in a Goa hotel recently.......

The victim, a 22 year old graduate residing in Mylargadda left for a trip to the sunny climes of Goa along with her three male friends and confidantes, Naseer, Sajid and Vivek on April 5, 2013......

All four of them checked into a Goa hotel and decided to share a room in order to stretch their rather meagre financial resources; but lo and behold, the alleged rapist Naseer decided to get adventurous as well as amorous and ended up raping the victim on three consecutive nights beginning April 5, according to the victim/complainant.......

According to sources in the know of things, the said Naseer is a 22 year old college drop out who was unemployed and up to no good most of the time.......

This motley group (?) arrived in the city on Monday night and the victim/complainant summoned up the courage to approach the Chiklalaguda police on Tuesday morning to file an official complaint against the accused Naseer in this regard.......

The victim has also named her other two male friends/accomplices Sajid and Vivek as witnesses to the rape in her complaint according to police sources........

A case has been registered against the accused under section 376 (Rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) by the police and the victim has been sent to a prominent government hospital for a comprehensive medical check up; teams have also been nabbed to apprehend the alleged rapist who is still at large...........

THE BATTLE CONTINUES..........

It has been a week or thereabouts since the president of India accorded his assent to the much touted, vaunted and eagerly awaited supposedly stringent anti rape Law, but has the passing of this law or it's coming into being really changed the status of women on the ground??????


Certainly not, if women right activists in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad are to be believed; if anything the passing of the law has only made the police force even more indifferent, apathetic and disinterested in the plight of the much harrowed and hapless Indian woman, they go on to say.......

Citing a couple of cases of the sheer indifference displayed by SHO's who counselled women to go back to their home and hearths and sort out domestic disputes within the confines of their families and homes, these activists say, if anything the indifference displayed by the police towards them has only grown by leaps and bounds since the new law came into existence, they opine........

For reasons best known to them, the male dominated police force has become increasingly wary of touching any woman related complaint with a bargepole, they treat the women who muster up the courage with utter contempt and sheer disdain thereby causing irrepairable damage to the psyches and aspirations of women who do find the courage within themselves to buck the current trend and wander into a police station to register their litany of woes.......

As one prominent women activist candidly says, "the mere passing of laws is definitely not going to change the status of the Indian woman or the place accorded to her in an increasingly male dominated and hegemonistic society", "the Indian woman will only be accorded her due place in society once the Indian male wakes up to her potential and realises the need to start treating his female counterpart as his equal and alter ego", she concludes............

Sensitising the middle and lower levels of the police force to the needs and sensibilities of the modern working and non working women is the crying need of the hour; the powers that be both within the government as well as the police force did make lofty claims about introducing gender sensitisation programmes in the wake or aftermath of the horrific Delhi gang rape incident.........

"We are yet to see these promises fructifying on the ground level, meanwhile a visit to a police station continues to be nothing short of a hellish experience for the long suffering Indian woman", a brave soul who ventured into a police station on more than one occasion candidly admits........

And so the thirty odd year long battle for a woman's due place in an increasingly callous, indifferent and apathetical male dominated and hegemonistic society continues.......

HANAMKONDA"S SHAME..........

Where and when will it ever end????, molesters have refused to spare four month old infants, eighty year old great grand mothers, physically and mentally handicapped or differently abled women and now comes the latest instance of four blind school girls being sexually abused for more than six months in a special school........


Yes, the blind girls in question were physically abused for a period of six months and more by the husband of the school's organiser, B.Bhaskar a government of Andhra Pradesh employee who has since been taken into police custody.......

A seemingly watertight case has been built against him under sections 354 (Assault or criminal force exerted against a woman with the express intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and he is presently cooling his heels in the Hanamkonda police's custody.........

According to sources in the know of things, the said Bhaskar who incidentally happens to be the husband of the Space Blind School's organiser Ms. Shobha had been continually misbehaving with the girl students of this blind residential school for the last six months and more.......

He used to approach these hapless and defenceless girls under the cover of darkness or late in the night use filthy language and inane profanities and wilfully feel them up and inappropriately touch them on various parts of their anatomies with utter disdain and indifference for their feelings and emotions.........

Fed up with this constant harassment and mental trauma the girls repeatedly approached their supposed guardian and mentor Shobha and bitterly complained about her husband's desperate behaviour on more than occasion, but these repeated complaints came to nought as the lady in question simply dismissed these complaints made against her husband as a figment of their fertile imaginations......

The children or then should one say abused girl children then spilled the beans to their parents and subsequently registered a written complaint with the Hanamkonda police with the aid and help of their parents; based on which the assailant Bhaskar was apprehended.......

Highly placed Hanamkonda police officers have visited the spot and collected relevant evidence and a detailed investigation into the unpleasant episode is on at the present time.........

BELATED YET WELCOME MEASURES..........

The salutary and detrimental effect that the supposedly tough and far more stringent anti rape law will have on the libidos of wannabe rapists is still a matter of conjecture and crystal ball gazing; but yes the president has accorded his assent and stamp of approval to the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill 2013, for whatever it is worth......


Power centres within the government who had staked their all on getting this seemingly tough and far reaching law passed must surely be heaving a huge sigh of relief as the law was passed on Tuesday just two days before the February 3 ordinance issued to this effect would have lapsed and gone down as yet another inglorious chapter in the history of the Indian woman.........

Most if not all people are already aware of the fact that this law provides for or envisages far more stringent provisions for rapists and repeat offenders and also introduces stricter punishments for women centric offences such as stalking, voyeurism, disrobing women in full public view and acid attacks to name just a few......

This Bill which came up as a result or by product of the inhuman and barbaric crime perpetrated against the Delhi brave heart Nirbhaya was passed by the Lok Sabha on March 19 and Rajya Sabha on March 21 respectively and has now gone into the statute books and taken concrete shape with the much anticipated presidential assent......

One only hopes and prays that this seemingly draconian law which envisages or provides for capital punishment in cases of rape that either end up in the victim's death or then leaves her permanently incapacitated for the rest of her natural life is duly backed up with far more speedier, professional and time bound investigations as well as speedy trials and sentencing so that it does have the much desired detrimental effect on the heinous and barbaric intentions of wannabe rapists.........

In an allied, belated though largely welcome development, the law ministry on Wednesday announced the setting up and formation of 1,800 fast track courts throughout the length and breadth of this gargantuan country to facilitate and expedite speedy and time bound trials in all crimes perpetrated against hapless and defenceless women........

Hundreds of such courts will be set up in the metros and "A" class cities as these are the places where the incidence of such crimes is the highest; "specific orders have already been passed to the various state governments asking them to provide the necessary or desired space and infrastructure to set up these courts post haste", a senior law ministry official confirmed........

The same official also shared the information that the Supreme and High Courts have already initiated the process of recruiting and appointing a minimum of 2,000 qualified judges to expeditiously man these facilities..........

MISCREANTS KILL TEMPLE PRIEST

Rising up  to defend the honour and security of womenfolk can indeed prove to your detriment as such an instance of heroism and bravado can end up costing you your life if you happen to go up against a bunch of goons or thugs who care little for the sanctity and value of a precious human life.......


A 63 year old priest attached to the prestigious Tirumala Tirupati temple paid for the indiscretion (?) of trying to protect his 25 year old daughter from the clutches of a bunch of five thugs who were hell bent upon making an example of her and enjoying themselves to their hearts' content while committing this atrocity on a hapless and seemingly defenceless female.......

This instance or then should one say murderous assault took place in in the Chennai suburb of Chengalpet on Sunday evening and involved the above mentioned priest, his 25 year old daughter who was at the receiving end of some undesired and unwelcome male attention and the priest's 5 year old grand daughter.........

V T Raman (the 63 year old priest) his 25 year old daughter and five year old grand daughter Akshayashree were out for an evening walk after having duly completed the requisite rituals on the occasion of the priest's late wives first death anniversary.......

They soon found themselves at the receiving end of some undesirable and highly objectionable attention from a group of five young men who started following or stalking them and passing lewd and bawdry remarks on the anatomy of the priest's daughter........

On being asked to desist from this nocturnal tendency and deplorable behaviour, one of them remarked that "they would have to put up with such behaviour if they wanted to visit this town", but, the priest kept raising his voice in relentless protest as a result of which these goons set upon him and murderously assaulted him with an iron rod and kept on attacking him with the same until he lay on the road in a senseless heap with blood pooling around his grievously injured head.......

25 year old Padmashree also found herself at the end of a few blows with the same steel rod/pipe and kept screaming at the top of her voice despite being subjected to a barrage of blows, the assailants fled from the spot when they saw a few bystanders paying heed to the lady's screams and cries for help and rushing to her aid.......

Both the victims of the murderous assault were soon rushed to a local hospital where the daughter where was duly discharged after receiving sixteen sutures on her head and temple; the valiant priest however never regained consciousness and passed away from the head wounds afflicted on him on Tuesday morning........

The local police have thus far only managed to identify and apprehend one assailant Muniraj while the remaining four assailants are still at large..........

All one can say in conclusion is that rising up to the occasion and protecting the safety and security of any and every woman is the right and manly thing to do, but please do consider the odds carefully before doing so or the consequences might be far more than you could have ever imagined.........

BLOT ON HYDERABAD

The spate of rapes and sexual crimes against hapless women continues unabated and this time around Hyderabad is the city to have shamed and let down it's womenfolk.....


A 21 year old B Tech student unfortunately found herself at the wrong place at the wrong time around and ultimately succumbed to the devious intentions of a gym owner at the city's LB Nagar area on Sunday........

Prashant Reddy the 26 year old gym owner lured the hapless victim to his Balajinagar residence on Sunday afternoon on the pretext of sharing some crucial information pertaining to her boyfriend who used to regularly work out at Reddy's LB Nagar gym....

Taking Reddy at face value, the unsuspecting victim accompanied him to his residence but was taken aback when she found the assailant securely locking the front door, forcing himself upon her and subsequently brutally raping her........

The rapist let the victim off with a dire warning about paying with her life if she uttered a word about the crime committed against/upon her to anybody; the victim somehow managed to muster up the required courage from deep within and reported the atrocity wreaked against her to the local police station......

Acting with surprising alacrity, the local police swung into action and apprehended the culprit without any further ado, the assailant is currently cooling his heels and ardour in police custody, while the victim has been sent for a detailed medical examination.......

There is certainly a lesson in it somewhere for all of us, namely one of not taking people no matter however well acquainted and apparently trustworthy they may be at face value and wandering off alone with them; it only pays to keep your trusty pepper spray or then pocket knife handy if you harbour any intentions of doing so........
